How to Get Your Store Ready for Fiestas Patrias 2025
September comes fast -- get your store ready now so you're not scrambling at the last minute.
Why does seasonal design matter?
Fiestas Patrias -- Chile's national independence celebration in mid-September -- is the second-biggest commercial event of the year after Christmas. And unlike CyberDay (Chile's version of Cyber Monday), the buyer here is in celebration mode, not discount-hunting mode.
That changes everything: the tone, the colors, the offer. Your store should reflect that. It's not about slapping a giant flag on the banner. It's about creating an experience that says "we've got something for September."
What to change (and what not to)
Do change:
- Hero banner: a visual that communicates the September campaign. It can be themed without being cheesy. Warm colors, clean typography, a direct message.
- Campaign landing page: a dedicated page with the promotion's products. A clean URL like
/fiestas-patrias-2025. Makes it easy to share the link on social media. - Featured section on the homepage: group popular products for the occasion. Barbecue gear, gifts, decorations -- whatever you sell that fits the celebration.
- Pop-up or top bar: a simple message like "Guaranteed delivery before the 18th." That creates urgency and builds trust.
Don't change:
- The logo. Unless you already have a seasonal version designed, leave it alone.
- The navigation. Don't rearrange the menus. Returning customers will get lost.
- The base colors of your store. Add seasonal accents; don't repaint everything.
Preparation calendar
| Week | What to do |
|---|---|
| Aug 18-24 | Define the campaign: which products, what discount, what message |
| Aug 25-31 | Design banners, landing page, and social media assets |
| Sep 1-7 | Publish everything in the store. Test on mobile |
| Sep 8-14 | Activate emails and ads. Final tweaks |
| Sep 15-18 | Monitor sales. Respond fast. Don't touch the design |
The key is having everything ready before September 1. After that, your time should go toward selling and shipping, not designing.
Design mistakes I see every September
- Banner text that's unreadable on mobile. Over 70% of your traffic is mobile. If the banner text can't be read on a phone, it's useless.
- Photos with watermarks or low resolution. September is your shop window. Use the best photos you have.
- Pop-ups that cover everything on mobile. A pop-up that can't be closed on a phone is an invitation to leave.
- Not showing delivery timelines. The customer needs to know if it'll arrive before the 18th. If you don't say, they'll assume it won't.
Tools that help
- Canva: for quick banners with seasonal templates. Free.
- Shopify Sections: if your theme supports it, you can add and remove sections without touching code.
- Figma: for a more professional approach, design in Figma and hand it off to your developer.
Start this week
Don't wait until September. Define your campaign now, design next week, and publish at the start of the month. That way you arrive prepared instead of rushed.
